A friend of mine flew down to Austin from Charlotte recently and decided to hit the road with me for a few days. Frank has a fast rental car, and it’s flat and wide open out here in west Texas and eastern New Mexico.
We’ve been making good time.
I got to introduce him to a few of San Angelo’s more notable characters at Blaine’s Pub on Thursday, and he got to see a sold out show at one of my favorite venues in the country– Pecos Flavors Winery in Roswell, NM. I do a lot of my traveling solo, so having a friend who is eager to drive across those vast plains and keep you company has been a welcomed addition to this short little trip.
He gets to see what I do first hand, and I get a driver and some good conversation.
I’m not really sure that it’s anything close to a fair trade, but I’m thankful for it.
Breakfast is in our immediate future, and then it’s the long haul from Roswell to Carlsbad to Fort Stockton to New Braunfels. 549 miles. Go!
